Suicide is something that needs to stop. It's not fair to people. People are taking their own lives all because of bullying. People just don't know how to accept others. Others can be unique but bullies are just ready to do what they are good at which is bullying. It's getting out of hand. People need to stand up for people that are getting bullied because it leads to suicide. Suicide needs to stop now.
Today i am going to be talking about Kenneth James "Rodney" Weishuhn Jr. He attended South O' Brien High School. He was born May 27, 1997 in Sheldon, Iowa. Him and his sister both attended the same school but he was a freshman and she was a sophomore. Kenneth's parents were Kenneth J. Weishuhn Sr. and Jeannie Chambers. His parents were divorced/separated so he also had a stepdad who was Kenny Chambers. His race was American. Kenneth, his parents, and his sister all lived in Paullina, Iowa where his school was also.
Kenneth was getting bullied through person. He was gay so that was the reason why he was getting bullied. He was getting death threats through his mobile phone. The bullying was aggressive and overwhelming. He was also a subject to a Facebook hate group. The bullying was bad but then it started to get out of hand. He had came out one month before his suicide so there was a lot of bullying from when he came out. His sister Kayla said that is was a very traumatizing event and she had to go through the rest of her high school years with the bullies that made Kenneth commit suicide.
Kenneth passed away on April 14, 2012 at the age of 14. His response to the bullying, he decided to commit suicide. He did it by hanging himself in the family's garage. His stepdad Kenny Chambers discovered him in the early morning hours of April 15, 2012. A Facebook group dedicated to Kenneth Weishuhn's memory gained about 1500 followers within the first week of his suicide. That is double the number of people in his home town. His funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar and the burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetary in Primghar.
Kenneth's suicide could have been prevented by people standing up for him when he was getting bullied. He could have also went to an adult or talked to someone so they can stop all the bullying happening or make it less worse so it won't have to lead to suicide. There was many ways to stop the suicide but nothing or no one stopped it and now there's one less person in this world. Suicides are really unfair bc it hurts the family and the friends of the deceased person. Suicides are just bad and it needs to stop. If i knew Kenneth, iw ould have talked to him and i would’ve told an adult about what he was going through. He could’ve had someone to talk to about his problems. I would have told him that there is many people that love him and that it’s not worth it to take your own life because there’s many other things waiting in life and there’s goals in life. His suicide could have been prevented in many ways.
